The Healthcare on Wheels – Dental Care project carried out dental checks and treatment on children from deserving families residing in Goodyear Court 6.
The project is a joint project between the Lions Club of Subang Jaya, Lions Club of Serdang, Lions Club of Selangor Unique, Leo Club of SMK USJ8 and the community leaders of Goodyear Court 6.
Thanks to Lions Club of Serdang, who graciously provided their mobile dental clinic bus, we had a ‘venue’ to host the outreach program. Also, thanks to dentist Dr Foo You Han and his team from the Lions Club of Selangor Unique, we had the dental experts.
We started the morning at 8am. The Lions and dental team got the clinic ready and the Leos arranged the children assembling for their dental checks.
At the stroke of 9am, dental check started. In total, 29 children had their teeth checked, cleaned and treated. Each treatment took about 10 to 15 minutes. The children were aged from 5 to 15 years old.
Some of the children required more extensive treatment and their parents counselled by Dr. Foo where to seek the necessary further treatment.
At noon, ADUN Subang Jaya, YB Michelle Ng dropped by to witness the dental team in action and thank the volunteers.
We wrapped up the day at 2.30pm and demobilized the mobile dental clinic later in the afternoon.
Overall, this project was successful with all parties from community leaders, to Leos and Lions working closely. As a result, 29 children benefited by having their teeth checked, cleaned and treated.
