2026 Home Visit to Shainthavi’s Family

On 2 August 2026, members of the Lions Club of Subang Jaya (LCSJ) and Leo Club of SMK Subang Utama visited Shainthavi’s family as part of our ongoing care and follow up efforts.

During the visit, LCSJ presented the family with a RM500 Speedmart 99 voucher to assist with their daily necessities. The Leo also prepared McDonald’s meals and purchased toys for Shainthavi and her brother, hoping to bring them some joy and encouragement.

The team spent quality time with the family, having a warm and meaningful conversation to understand their current situation. The visit provided an opportunity to strengthen our relationship with the family while following up on their well-being and needs.

We hope this small gesture brings comfort to the family.

2026 Lions Club of Subang Jaya Received Awards from District Governor

At the close of the 2025/2026 fiscal year, we are deeply honoured to receive 11 District Awards presented by District Governor Tan Say Cheong.

2026 Pickleball Charity with SJ Ambulance

Supporting the Subang Jaya Community Ambulance has always been close to our hearts. Over the years, our Club and our Subang Jaya Leo Clubs have proudly contributed to this remarkable volunteer run service that provides free emergency medical response to our community. Staffed by professional paramedics and dedicated volunteers, it has been saving lives across Subang Jaya for almost a decade.

So when Councillor Ken Chia organised the 28-hour Pickleball Charity Marathon in aid of SJ Community Ambulance, we were more than happy to lend our support. Besides contributing financially, nearly two dozen Lions, Leos, family members and friends took to the courts on a Saturday night, playing into the late hours to help keep the marathon going.

Service comes in many forms. Sometimes it is answering an emergency call. Sometimes it is simply picking up a paddle for a good cause.

2026 PangKang Fellowship and Club Meeting

As our Club’s ’25/’26 fiscal year draws to a close, it was time for our annual pangkang, a Hokkien term meaning “finish work”, to celebrate another exciting and eventful term under President YC Tan.

Continuing a long standing Club tradition, members gathered at Curious Kitchen for our final BOD and Business Meeting, accompanied by good food, drinks, fellowship and a karaoke session.

The evening concluded with a farewell address from President YC, who reflected on the leadership lessons gained throughout his term. Having joined the Club 10 years ago as a young Lion, he shared how the journey had shaped him both personally and professionally. From someone who once spoke broken English and preferred to stay in the background, he has grown into a confident leader able to steer an active and demanding club.

On behalf of all members, we thank President YC, his Board of Directors and key officers for their dedication and service over the past year. Together, they have led another successful chapter in our Club’s history, delivering meaningful community projects while strengthening the bonds of fellowship that make our Club special.

A hearty roar to President YC and his team for a job well done.

2026 Donation to Paediatic Palliative Care Centre

On 15 May 2026, members of the Lions Club of Subang Jaya visited the Paediatric Palliative Care Centre by MyStarfish at Section 17, Petaling Jaya, and presented a contribution of RM20,000 towards the staffing and upkeep of the house.

Dr Chong Lee Ai and Dr Farah Khalid, both government doctors from UMMC and founders of this initiative, gave us a tour of Malaysia’s first hospital linked paediatric palliative care centre. The house was made possible with support from MBPJ, which leased the property to MyStarfish free of charge for 10 years.

What greeted us was a cozy little bungalow that had been tastefully redecorated. Nothing extravagant, but thoughtfully done with warmth and practicality in mind. You could see that every ringgit was carefully stretched and costs tightly controlled.

We were deeply impressed by the dedication and compassion shown by the team. Their work goes beyond treating seriously ill children. They also focus on giving the children and their families quality time together in a comfortable environment away from the hospital, while still remaining close enough for medical support and care when needed.

A truly meaningful initiative built around dignity, compassion and humanity.

A Special May 2026 Club Meeting

The 2nd last meeting of President YC Tan’s fiscal term saw a full house with nearly three dozen members and guests in attendance.

We were honoured to host a visit from the District Cabinet led by 1VDG Elect Simon Tan Yu Seng, alongside a courtesy visit from the young and fast rising Lions Club of Cyberjaya Blue Ocean Royale, as well as two esteemed members from the Rotary Club of Pudu, Rotarians Mike Tung & Alex Chang.

The meeting began with a minute of silence in remembrance of our recently departed Past President Alvin Chan.

The evening continued with updates on Club matters and the presentation of Lions Clubs International Long Service Awards. Congratulations to Lion Gary Choong for 35 years of service, Lion Peter Hong for 25 years, and President YC Tan together with Lion Sharon Lian for 10 years.

Our three Omega Leo Clubs were also represented by their Presidents and Incoming Presidents, sharing their upcoming plans and projects. We are especially proud that our Leo Eevian has expressed her intention to run for Leo District President, receiving our Club’s wholehearted endorsement.

The night ended on a warm note with birthday celebrations for our May babies, followed by the usual extended fellowship and conversations long after the meeting officially ended.

2026 Tree Planting & Outing with Underprivileged Children

After extensive planning, LCSJ successfully organized a meaningful 2-in-1 project combining environmental conservation and community service. The initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness through tree planting while providing an enriching outdoor experience for orphanage children.

A total of 50 participants took part in the project, including 22 children and 4 caretakers from Rumah KIDS. The event was also supported by members from Leo Club of Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus, Subang Jaya Alumni, and TARUMT, making it a collaborative and impactful effort.

LCSJ proudly sponsored 500 decorative plants, which were planted along the padi field, contributing to the beautification of the area and supporting environmental sustainability. The tree planting activity commenced at 8:30am. Despite the hot weather, participants remained enthusiastic and committed, demonstrating strong teamwork and dedication throughout the session.

Following the tree planting, the event continued with fellowship activities. The children participated in a fun quiz session, followed by exciting outdoor activities such as kayaking and ziplining. The children were visibly delighted and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, making the day both memorable and meaningful for everyone involved.

Overall, the project was a great success, promoting environmental responsibility while bringing joy and valuable outdoor exposure to the children.

2026 Sight First Project with the Orang Asli Community

ON 21 JUNE 2026, DISTRIBUTION OF COMPLETED EYEGLASSES DAY

A follow up to our Sight First eye screening at Kampung Orang Asli Bukit Lanjan held in April 2026.

Following the screening, many members of the community were identified as needing prescription glasses. On 21 June 2026, our own Lion Zhideng, who is also an optometrist, returned to personally deliver 71 pairs of spectacles, compliments of our Club.

From young children to senior citizens, each pair of glasses brings clearer vision and hopefully a better quality of life, safer daily living, and improved learning opportunities.

EARLIER, ON 19 APRIL 2026, THE EYE TEST DAY

On 19 April 2026, OC Lion Zhi Deng organized a free eye-test project for the Orang Asli community at Desa Temuan Bukit Lanjan. This project is jointly organized with Persatuan Mahasiswa Orang Asli (PMOA).

The young Orang Asli graduates of PMOA are really an inspiring group of young people. Despite growing up as underprivileged, they overcome challenges and changed their life through education. They are now giving back to their community in Bukit Lanjan, by partnering with Tanjong Optical and Lions Club of Subang Jaya.

The eye-test was conducted in the community hall in Bukit Lanjan. This time, LCSJ focused on giving such service not to children but to seniors and adults. Many Orang Asli adults do need eyesight correction and many did not even realize that they were not seeing clearly. We could see smiles from some of them when they discovered they could see things crystal clear during the eye-test.

We have tested 75 persons, out of which 71 will be provided with eyeglasses by Lions Club of Subang Jaya. A handing over ceremony of the completed eyeglasses will be carried out in June.

Sponsorship for SK Seafield 3 Road Run

Lions Club of Subang Jaya donated 400 buns and 200 bottles of mineral water for the students of SK Seafield 3. The school is located in a low income neighbourhood, and its PIBG faces ongoing challenges raising funds.

The contribution was made in conjunction with SK Seafield’s road run held on 22 January 2026, which involved more than 400 students.

2026 Our Special Club Meeting in a Special Place

Our Club’s March Monthly General Meeting took on a slightly different setting this time. Instead of our usual venue, members gathered at SMK USJ 8, bringing the meeting quite literally back to school.

Taking inspiration from our District Governor Tan Say Cheong’s theme of “Back2Basic,” the evening began with a simple dinner at the school canteen. What the setting lacked in luxury, it more than made up for with some very satisfying and notably spicy dishes that quickly got everyone warmed up for the night ahead.

The meeting itself was held in the school’s Bilik Sejarah, known as Makmal Sejarah de Mercu. This room holds special meaning for our Club. Together with our sister clubs, the Lions Club of Lung Tan Taiwan and Lions Club of Guangzhou China, we had in 2025 sponsored the refurbishment of this learning space. Returning to use the room for our own meeting felt like a small but meaningful full circle moment.

Discussions carried on steadily through the evening, with a number of projects discussed and approved. As the meeting drew to a close around 10pm, members moved straight into the Club’s election meeting. The Club expressed its full support for President Elect Raymond Yau, who will lead the Club in the coming fiscal year.

By the end of the night, many members found themselves enjoying the nostalgic atmosphere of holding a meeting within a secondary school setting. It was a refreshing change from routine and a reminder that sometimes the best way forward is simply to return to the basics.
