Lions Club of Subang Jaya organized a free eye test and eye-glasses project for B40 students of SMK U8 in Subang Jaya. This project was jointly organized together with Leo Club of SMK U8.
Earlier in the year, Subang Jaya ADUN, Michelle Ng, when asked by Lions where we should be conducting our signature free eye-test and eye-glasses project in 2023; without hesitation, the former mentioned U8. Hence, we contacted the Leo Club of SMK U8 and the Leo Teacher Advisor, Dr Ramani. With the blessing from the headmaster of the school, this project was finally given a go ahead.
Eye-test
On 3 May 2023, we tested 43 students, out of which, 36 required prescription eye-glasses. We are grateful to Tanjong Optical & Contact Lens to partner with us for the free eye-test and gave us a subsidized price for the eye-glasses.
Presentation of eye-glasses
On 14 June 2023, SMK U8, Lions Club of Subang Jaya and Leo Club of SMK U8 organized an eye-glasses presentation ceremony to hand-over the 36 pairs of spectacles to the students. ADUN of Subang Jaya, YB Michelle Ng, was the guest-of-honor.
Many of the students have deterioration of sight with high power level; however, they are the owner of their first pair of eye-glasses. Hopefully, with good vision, they are able to succeed in all of their future undertaking.
